First thread in the new Politics forum! Well anyhow, I thought this would be a good subject to start with. A couple recent updates on the situation:
First and foremost, over a month ago, the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA called an Emergency Summit in the Gulf area to discuss the crisis and develop a people's solution. The Emergency Committee to Stop the Gulf Oil Disaster was thereby formed. The organization's objective is to take the initiative and lead the way in the clean-up effort, as well to insist on full compensation for all victims of the oil spill catastrophe. You can find the Emergency Committee's web site here. (http://www.stopgulfoildisaster.org/) There you'll find our demands, regular updates on the situation, video, and more.
Now that we've looked at that, let's take a look at the latest on the official initiative: The incoming BP CEO proposes that now is the time to "scale back" the Gulf clean-up effort. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-10822509) There you go.
